
The World Aluminium Summit, held for the 30th time, took place in London between 13–15 May 2025. Organized annually by CRU and hosted by the International Aluminium Institute and the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative, the event brought together 170 companies and 370 participants from 38 countries.
İDDMİB Board Members and Aluminum Committee Members Mehmet Öncel, Şevket Çalışkan, and Aynur Ayhan attended the conference. On the first day, İMMİB Secretary General Dr. S. Armağan Vurdu participated as a speaker in the session titled “Global, Geopolitical and Trade Pressures in the Aluminum Industry.”
During the session, topics discussed included the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and its impact on international trade, energy, tariffs and the approaches of foreign markets to tariffs, and protectionist policies.
